Whale poo reduces carbon levels: ‘Huge Amounts Of Iron’

  1. I searched through several of these news articles, which all appear to be copies of one another. None of them actually states the concentration of iron in whale feces (presumably, from the fascination with krill, baleen whale species, not those nasty orcas). However, I doubt that it is greatly in excess of 100 micrograms per gram, the average value found in human feces. So just in case this factoid of iron fertilization finds its way into debates about whaling, I hope that the debaters remember that there is a rather large amount of human feces that could be spread liberally in those iron deficient southern waters.
